Locks
A little common sense please
If you believe that a $10 deadbolt is going to protect your home, you are simply kidding yourself. Cheap locks are just that...Cheap! Take them apart and you will find that the insides are made of plastic.
What is "good enough"
Again, the weakest part of the door will break when kicked. If you reinforce all of the weak parts on a door, the lock will become the weakest link. In testing our Door Jamb Armor solution, we broke multiple deadbolts, which is how we learned that you get what you pay for when it comes to a deadbolt.Making the Grade
Locks are available in different grades, which relate to their construction and durability. These grades are a measure of application suitability. Most commercial applications require either Grade 1 or Grade 2 locking products.
Because security, protection from vandalism, durability under heavy usage and other considerations are important, the greater strength of Grade 1 locks makes them the best choice for securing your home. Grade 2 products are adequate for lighter duty, such as storage closets or doors where security is less of an issue. They will keep people from walking through a door, but they provide much less protection against deliberate force than Grade 1 products. We strongly recommend grade 1 locks.
